  • Dr. James Orbinski started his education with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology at Trent University (batch 1980). He is a physician, a humanitarian activist, and a leading proponent of global health. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999 for his outstanding work in Doctors without Borders.
  • Professor Chris Furgal is an associate professor in the Indigenous Environmental Studies Program at Trent University. He is a contributor to the Nobel Prize-winning work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as a leading scientific expert. He was one of the only two Canadians involved in the 2007 report which presents the effects of climate change in the polar regions.
 

Aside from the Nobel Prize, Trent University produced graduates that were awarded the world-renowned Rhodes Scholarship. The Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest and most prestigious international scholarship programme, given to exceptional students to study at the University of Oxford. A total of five Trent University graduates were recognized as Rhodes Scholars.
