What You Need to Know About UCF's Campuses

Fast facts on the University of Central Florida's campuses.

The University of Central Florida (UCF) has continually expanded since establishing in 1963. It is now recognized by numerous publications as one of the best universities in the United States with many standout programs available to students. As of 2020, UCF offers 103 bachelor programs, 91 masters programs, 34 doctoral programs, and three specialist degree programs. UCF’s 17000 annual graduates are spread across its prolific campuses and online learning options, here are some facts about each major campus:

Main Campus

  • Founded in 1968 and located in east Orlando, only 13 miles (21 kilometres) from downtown.
  • The campus neighbours several top national research parks.
  • The layout is reminiscent of Disney’s Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT).
  • Home to all of UCF’s colleges, except for the College of Medicine.

Lake Nona’s Medical City

  • First constructed in 2006 and opened in 2010, Lake Nona Medical City is located near the Orlando International Airport (MCO), approximately 28 miles (45 kilometres) southeast of downtown, or 25 miles (40 kilometres) south of Main Campus.
  • Home to the College of Medicine and Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences.
  • Future home to the College of Nursing and the tobe established College of Dental Medicine.
  • Neighbours the UCF Lake Nona Medical Center, UCF Lake Nona Cancer Center, the University of Florida pharmacy College, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Nemours Children’s Hospital among other medically focussed institutions.
  • Upon completion of construction projects, more than 5000 students will be educated at the worldclass medical city’s educational institutions.

UCF Downtown

  • Opened in 2019 in the heart of downtown Orlando in the city’s Creative Village, a modern and dynamic district focussed on thoughtful and accessible urban living and capitalizing on Orlando’s digital media presence.
  • As well as a notable focus on digital media, UCF Downtown campus also focuses on delivering programs for communications, public service, and various health-related programs.
  • In partnership with Valencia College, UCF Downtown hosts in excess of 7,000 students with both learning and living facilities.
  • The close proximity of the campus to the city’s business district presents convenient opportunities for work and internships for students and graduates.

Rosen College of Hospitality Management

  • First opened in 1983, the Rosen College of Hospitality Management is located near the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort and Orange County Convention Centre.
  • The campus’s design is reminiscent of other resorts in the area, fittingly so as Orlando is one of the top tourist destinations in the United States.
  • Shanghai Rankings rates the college as the best in the United States, and the second-best in the world among hospitality colleges.
  • Curriculum notably focuses on teaching global perspective and lessons on hospitality, event management, entertainment management, senior living management, and tourism among others.
