Start Your Career at Humber College

This article aims to introduce the career support offered by Humber College.

According to the 2017-2018 graduate report of Humber College, 85% of graduates successfully landed a job within six months after graduation. Moreover, a 100% employment rate is seen in some programs, such as Bachelor of Commerce (Digital Business Management), Bachelor of Commerce (Supply Chain Management), and Bachelor of Public Relations. These satisfied statistics are not out of the void but resulted from the various career support provided by Humber College.

  • Humber College is dedicated to helping students pursue career goals by offering multiple career support.

Work-integrated learning provides students with the opportunity to apply their learning from academic studies to relevant experiences and reciprocate learning back to their studies (Cooper, 2010). As an umbrella term, work-integrated learning includes different experiential learning opportunities, such as work placement, co-op, and internship. Students who attend the work-integrated learning programs will gain practical experience and an edge in the job market. More importantly, the networking made during the work-integrated learning programs will more or less contribute to students’ future career success.

  • CareerConnect

For currently enrolled students and graduates who are looking for a job, CareerConnect is the place for you. A number of employers always post full-time, part-time, summer, and volunteer positions on CareerConnect. To find some program-specific job positions, students simply need to log in through the Faculty’s specific CareerConnect job portal. To help students better use the system, CareerConnect also records some introductory videos for students to navigate CareerConnect.

  • Advising & Career Services

Career Steps Workshops

Various career workshops are designed to give students guidance on writing effective resumes and cover letters, creating a LinkedIn Profile, and doing effective job searches.

One-on-One Career Coaching Service

It might be difficult for students who have not yet decided their careers to come up with an idea in a short time. The one-on-One career coaching service provided by Humber College directly targets this issue, helping students set a career goal and further build a successful career. This career coaching service also has an evening session from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Although the office is closed to visitors due to the COVID-19, evening advising services are still available to students (being delivered virtually).
