Holistic Learning at Regent Christian Academy

More than forty years ago the Regent Christian Academy that we know now just started at a basement, with a handful of staff and less than a hundred students. The school has a clear mission – to develop young leaders who are mighty in spirit. A decade after, realizing the demand for Canadian quality K-12 education and English language learning, Regent Christian Academy opened its doors to international students through its Regent Christian Academy International School. Fast forward to the present, Regent Christian Academy is now situated in a modern and state-of-the-art building in Surrey, one of the biggest cities in Metro Vancouver. Through all those years, one thing remains - the school’s commitment to student’s holistic development.
As prospective students or parents, we want to dive deeper into what holistic learning and development means for ourselves or for our kids. This article provides an overview of curricular, extra-curricular and holistic development opportunities for Regent Christian Academy students.
Creative and Performing Arts
Students at Regent Christian Academy can participate in various Arts programs. Middle School students have an Art program where they learn about drawing, painting, patterns and design, and a Music program where they can learn the theory and perform in choir and instrumental concerts. For students who want to further develop their skills, there is a Fine Arts Option that they can take as an elective.
Similarly, High school students have a strong Art program focus on painting and design. They can also get involved in Drama and Performing Arts, and star at one of the school’s sought-after plays.
In terms of facilities, Regent Christian Academy has a huge Performance Arts stage where students can showcase their talents with their parents and the school community.
Solid Athletics Department
From primary school to high school, students go through a well-crafted Physical Education curriculum. Regent Christian Academy’s varsity team has won numerous local athletics tournaments. High school students are also encouraged to be involved in at least one sports program of their interests. This strong focus on athletics reflects the school’s recognition of balanced learning through a strong mind, body, and spirit.
Humanitarian Initiatives
Students at RCA have a unique opportunity to participate in fundraising and various humanitarian mission that the school has been doing for decades now. This powerful program helps students realize the global impact they can do, and that age should not matter when doing social good. Since its inception, Regent Christian Academy completed humanitarian missions in Mexico, Europe, Kenya, Thailand, Uganda, and Costa Rica. These missions include building homes, schools, and churches, as well as distributing wheelchairs.
Spiritual Growth
Last but not the least, Regent Christian Academy offers a Christ-centred education to all its students. This means that students are not only trained with their academic skills and learning but their character development is also supported and moulded based on Christian living.
With decades since opening its doors to both domestic and international students, Regent Christian Academy has perfected the holistic delivery of its learning programs. Parents are assured that their children are in an environment that hones not just their academic skills, but also supports their character development.
