Requirements for Undergraduate Admission
- GPA of 2.0 based on high school grades
- Proof of English proficiency with the following required scores
- IELTS Academic - 6.0 and minimum of 5.0 for each band
- TOEFL IBT- 67
- Duolingo - 95
- SAT - combined score of at keast 920 for evidence-base writing and reading and math test
- ACT - composite score of at least 17
- PTE Academic - 50
- Youngstown English Language Institute (ELI) Level 5 completion
- Completion of 24 semester hours of college-level coursework from an accredited English-medium college in the US or another country where English is the official language
- Official high school transcript
- High school Diploma or Certificate
- Copy of passport
- Evidence of sufficient financial resources and upload the Affidavit of Financial Support Form
International Graduate Admission
Steps to Apply:
- Pay the application fee of $120 USD (@75 application fee and $45 credential evaluation fee)
- Complete the application form
- Wait for the Letter of Acceptance
Requirements for Graduate Admission
- Bachelor's degree from a college or university certified by the accrediting agency approved by the US Department of Education.
- Cumulative GPA of at least 2.7 on a 4.0 scale (Some programs have higher GPA requirements.)
- Recommendation letter (required for some programs)
- Proof of English proficiency with the following required scores
- IELTS Academic - 6.5
- TOEFL IBT- 550 for paper-based, 213 on computer based and 79-80 on the internet-based test
- Duolingo - 105 for Master's program and 115 for Doctoral
- Youngstown English Language Institute (ELI) Certificate.
- Official transcript translated in English if transcript is not in English
- Certified copy of graduation certification / proof of degree
- Supplemental items such as resume, letter of intent, passport, etc.
- Evidence of sufficient financial resources and upload the Affidavit of Financial Support Form

YSU us one of the most affordable universities in the US and the average tuition fee for YSU undergraduate program is $11,300 for one academic year and $13,349 for masters-level graduate program.
Scholarship for International Students
A GPA-based scholarship is available for international students in the undergraduate program which ranges from $1,000 - $5,000 per year depending on the GPA. The YSU Honors College Scholarship is also available for international freshmen with a value of $1,000, $2,000 and $4,000. Application must be submitted to the Honors College and an overall GPA of at least 3.5 is required and an ACT score of at least 26 or SAT score of at least 1240.
