Whatcom Community College is a regionally and nationally accredited college with an accomplished faculty and staff who serve nearly 11,000 students annually. Established in 1967, Whatcom has been accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities since 1976. According to the Aspen Institute (2016), WCC is rated among the top nine community and technical colleges in the state and recognized as one of the leading community colleges in the nation.
Academics
On its 72-acre campus in Bellingham, Washington, and through online courses, Whatcom offers transfer degrees, professional-technical training programs, basic education, job skills, and Community & Continuing Education classes. International programs are also offered in the college.
International Students
Students coming from countries outside the US will not be required to provide proof of English language proficiency. New students will undergo an assessment during their orientation. Homestays are offered for international students who wish to stay with a host family. This is a good way to have a regular interaction with the host family to practice the English language.
Admission Requirements
A special offering by Whatcom is that it offers its students two ways of accomplishing their academic goals: by starting their studies online in their home country, or by studying on-campus in the USA.
Requirements for online studies in home country:
1. Fill out an application form
2. Official transcripts
3. Copy of passport
4. Send requirements to international@whatcom.edu
Requirements for on-campus studies (USA):
1. Fill out an application form
2. Provide supporting financial documents amounting to a minimum of US$21,490.
3. Pay the application fee of US$50
4. Copy of high school and college transcripts
5. Copy of passport
6. Essay stating career and academic goals
Scholarships and Financial Aid
