The Erindale Academy (TEA) is a private high school with a university preparation program located in Mississauga, Canada - a city next to Toronto. They work in a student-focused learning manner, partner with universities to ensure that students get into and are successful in post-secondary education. The campus is located very near the University of Toronto Mississauga.

Important Notes

  • As a secondary school, TEA is a Designated Learning Institution.
  • TEA has a mandatory uniform consisting of a white shirt, black shoes, a blue sweater, and plaid skirt/dress pants. Some variations based on weather are allowed.
  • Erindale Academy is partnered with the Independent Learning Centre, an Ontario school, which can provide support for students in the case that TEA can not. For example, if the students need distance education for health reasons or if the students need a specific class that TEA does not offer.

Program Areas

There are two program streams for students to choose from: the regular program and the university preparation program. Erindale’s years are split into five semesters of two months and two semesters of one month (in the summer); a student typically will take two courses in one two-month semester. TEA also has an IELTS training course for English language learners, and the test can be taken on campus.

Entry Requirements

To apply, applicants can do so online or in person. Students must fill out an application form, send their school transcripts, and will be required to do an interview afterward. The interview is used to gauge the student’s English level if they have not received an IELTS score of 5 or higher (taking this test is not mandatory, and the interview is used in its place).

Getting There

  • Intakes: September
  • Application fee: $450
  • Payment term: Full year
  • If an accepted student is denied a study permit, Erindale will issue a full refund minus a $450CAD administration fee. Other reasons for not attending are not refundable, with exceptions on a case-by-case basis.

Living There

Students can live in managed housing, such as the residence or with a host family, or in non-managed housing organized by their parents or on their own.

Homestay families are managed independently by TEA. Living in residence is either on-campus or off-campus (within walking distance). Note that in the dormitory, the internet is disconnected from 12 am to 6 am every night. There is a curfew of 10 pm and students are responsible for cleaning their own space (otherwise they may have to pay for a cleaner).

Tuition, Costs, and Financial Aid

The tuition for Erindale ranges from $28,500-$38,500 CAD based on which program is chosen. The tuition lasts one year (including the summer semester) and is a flat rate valid for up to ten courses. The tuition is the same even if the student takes fewer courses or takes the summer off.

The following other fees apply:

  • Homestay or residence (meals included): $1,200-$1,900 per month
  • There is a one-time application fee for accommodations ranging from $200-$400.
  • Custodianship fee (if applicable): $1,000/year
  • Medical: $500/year
  • Other ancillary fees: around $1,250 depending on student

Considering this, the cost of attending school at Erindale Academy for one year, including living costs, is around $33,000-$43,600 CAD. The biggest differential is the program type.

There is $30,000 in scholarships available each year as well as the following scholarships:

  • The Principal’s Entrance Scholarship (up to $28,500)
  • The Computer Science Entrance Scholarship (up to $28,500)
  • The Math and Science Entrance Scholarship (up to $28,500)
  • The International Student Scholarship (up to $10,000)
  • The Art Entrance Scholarship (up to $28,500)

All scholarships are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
