Since 1999, the Royal Canadian Institute of International Studies (RCIIS) has been committed to providing international students with the best English instruction to assist them with their educational goals and life in Canada.

RCIIS is not your typical Canadian university as this Toronto institution’s mandate is focused on English instruction through various ESL (English as a Second Language) programs.

Each year, 1,500 students representing over 25 countries study at RCIIS. The campus is located at 1992 Yonge Street (a convenient four-minute walk from the Davisville subway station), in the heart of Canada’s largest metropolis, known as the ‘most multicultural city in the world.’

Unique Teaching Philosophy

Unlike other post-secondary institutions, RCIIS has a unique teaching philosophy known as “Learning by Doing.” This distinctive system of learning is designed to promote English communication in international students by having them converse effectively both inside and outside the classroom.

While in class, students are encouraged to speak, discuss, and share their opinions as a way of becoming more confident in their English abilities.

Packages

RCIIS offers several ESL packages for international students to choose from. These packages are designed for students who want to apply to multiple programs at a time and are based on the number of hours students choose to study per week as well as their level of English proficiency.

• The four basic packages are:ESL Super Intensive
• ESL Intensive
• ESL Standard
• College Pathway
• ESL Super Intensive consists of 35 hours per week for eight weeks of study and includes programs such as:ESL Foundation
• Power Speaking 1-4
• EAP (English for Academic Purposes)
• ESL Intensive is 30 hours per week and includes programs such as: IELTS Preparation
• Customer Service
• Afternoon Speaking 1-3
• ESL Standard consists of 20 hours of study per week and includes programs such as: ESL Foundation
• Business Communication
• IELTS Preparation

College Pathway is a large over-arching system of connected courses with the final goal of entering a Canadian post-secondary institution. Students may enter the pathway at multiple levels. The lowest point of entry is RCIIS’s ESL Foundation program.

Tuition and Costs

• ESL Standard = (20 hours per week) from $150/week.
• ESL Intensive = (30 hours per week) from $155/week.

RCIIS has partnered with several Canadian post-secondary institutions to allow international students who have completed the College Pathway program to study at these colleges, many of which are located in Ontario and Quebec.
