Admissions Process
International applicants will find that DSU has a simple, straightforward application process, which includes
- Submitting an initial application
- Uploading a copy of their passport
- Providing proof of finances and affidavit of support
- Secondary school academic records
- College/University transcripts
- Paying the application fee
- Proof of English language proficiency not required for ESL students)
- Transfer form (Only required for F-1 Visa holders who are transferring from a U.S. high school, college, or university).
Scholarships for international students
DSU offers two scholarships for international students:
- The International Freshmen Merit Scholarship
- Scholarship for Continuing and Transfer Students
While both scholarships are merit-based, the International Freshman Merit Scholarship is for new F-1 undergraduate, degree-seeking international students admitted directly into a university bachelor’s degree program for the fall or spring semester. The Continuing International Student Presidential Scholarship is for degree-seeking international students enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at DSU.

Tuitional and Fees
International students can expect to pay a total of $24,410 per year which includes tuition and university fees, books and supplies, housing, health insurance, and living expenses.
Please be advised that ESL (English as a Second Language students will pay $11,340 per year for tuition and expenses.
Local Outreach Program
Although they may be thousands of miles away from home, international students at DSU become part of the community during their stay in the U.S. The university has partnered with local community organizations to bring about the International Friends and Community Connection Family programs.
These programs match American families with international students to establish long-lasting cross-cultural friendships.
Please note that a family may choose to be an International friend AND/OR a Community Connection Family.
English Language Proficiency Requirements
For students whose primary language is not English, they are required to prove English proficiency by submitting one of the documents listed below:
- A TOEFL score of at least 68 +(Reading – 22+ & Writing – 24+)
- A IELTS score of at least 6.0 + (Reading – 6.0+ & Writing – 6.0 +)
- An ACT English score of 17+
- An Evidence-Based Reading/Writing SAT score of 24+
If an applicant’s scores are lower than the scores listed above, they will automatically be issued an I-20 for ESL. If they do begin with ESL classes, they can also pursue a degree after completing ESL.
