The City of Tacoma

Tacoma is a fantastic place to build your education and future career, located 35 miles south of Seattle. This big city has everything you need to thrive in your international studies, but it also has the warmth similar to a close-knit small town with its eclectic neighbourhoods, lively arts and theatre scene, a great lineup of restaurants, and picturesque parks and trails. The city has a reliable public transport system which makes doing outdoor adventures like kayaking in Puget Sound, and hiking or camping at Mt. Rainier easily accessible.

Campus Life

Life inside the classroom is only one part of the whole international student experience that a school can offer. At Tacoma Community College, setting the scene and activities outside the classroom is deemed important for the holistic student experience. The 150-acre Tacoma Main campus houses 28 buildings, and among them are our top four TCC campus favourites:

For the Health Enthusiast: Health and Wellness Center

TCC recently opened its state-of-the-art health and wellness centre to address student’s overall wellness. It includes expanded gym facilities, a new event centre, and quiet spaces for students to meditate and recharge.

Enjoy the Calm and Nature at the Japanese Friendship Garden

This commemorative friendship green space located on the north side of the campus offers a quick escape to the busy classrooms. Students can experience a moment of peace and reflection in this garden, with several natural and man-made components which also serve as a reminder that human artifacts can exist beautifully with nature.

Study at one of TCC’s Green Building – Harned Center for Health Careers

Green Buildings are a great way to support our global battle with climate change. TCC constructed the new Harned Center for Health Careers adhering to LEED Gold Standards. This Allied Health building houses cutting-edge medical equipment and facilities and is being heated through clean geothermal energy. Even non-medical students can enjoy the spacious and natural-lit study areas and meeting rooms.

The Gallery for the Creatives

The Gallery is the perfect space for those wanting to explore their creative inspirations, or just relax during their break and marvel at the beautiful pieces and exhibitions created by TCC Art Students, local and international artists. It is not just an ideal venue for special exhibits and rotating collections, it can also host lectures, and readings. The Gallery is open to the public and all its hosted exhibits are free of charge.
